Lombok Surf Spots
Gerupuk Inside
Just a short boat ride from Gerupuk village, you will find Gerupuk Inside on the eastern side of the bay. This wave is an extremely fun wave for all levels of surfing. High tide, it’s a mellow long right hander suitable for beginners. As the tide drops, long walls and open faces create a great opportunity for intermediate surfers to work on their turns and stay on the sweet spot of the wave. On mid to low tide, the wave becomes faster, hollower, and very rippable. Watch out for local pros flying overhead!
Gerupuk Outside
On the outside of Gerupuk bay sits Outside Right. When pulling up to this spot you will be greeted with turquoise blue water and fun peeling rights. Not to mention the amazing cliffs that jet from the ocean floor high into the sky! This wave can be tricky on the take-off, but make the drop and you will be rewarded with a nice, long, punchy wall. Great for intermediate-advanced surfers. On high tide and more towards the channel, there is also options for beginner surfers.
Don-Don
Located in the center of Gerupuk bay lays Don-Don. Being one of the only A-frame waves in south Lombok, Don-Don does a great job splitting up the crowd. Both left and right are perfect for beginner and intermediate surfers alike. Its long peeling waves make improving your skills and style effortless.
Ekas Inside
20km to the east of Kuta sits the small sleepy village of Awang. Charter a boat from the harbor and head to the east side of the bay and you will find a surfer’s paradise. Ekas Inside is both a left and right, depending on the tide. It is both a performance wave and one of the best beginner waves in south Lombok. Waves from the south come deep into the bay, and when they hit the reef shelf, stand up tall and break all the way to the shoreline. Here you can except long rides that will stay with you for a life time!
Selong Belanak
Located about 18 km to the west of Kuta is this pristine piece of Indonesian glory. Here you will be greeted with a long white sand beach. One of the only beach breaks in Lombok, these waves are great for beginners. The waves are often short and closing out, but excellent for fresh beginners to learn the basics of getting up-and-riding the white water before heading off to the other reef breaks around our area.
